20 years ago I ride the 250 my friend ride this 500 i try it 1 time this is a beast for my undriveable only in a strade line i had control in a corner you hit the gas you go on 1 wheel and fly i was faster on 1 lap on my 250 as him on the 500 that thing was so fast it was undriveable full speed brake for the corner and wen you around jou can giv gas to fast this bike on the road in 1,2,3,4,5 hit the gas and the front wheel goos up

Such a rowdy trip

As one who has ridden or raced since 1984 and witnessed so many things, I would have to say that to compete heads-up against the 450 pro race bike, as 2-stroke would need 325-350cc. Conversely, if you want to tone down the 4-stroke to allow a 250cc smoker to compete, I would say they need to be cut down to about 300cc. Never will happen, but those numbers sound right to me.

Biggest takeaway for me, aside from that astonishing horsepower you are getting out of these low-revving engines, was the rider choosing the old Honda as the better handling bike and how he said it would be really close in a lap-time shootout with the new 450. MX bike technology has not advanced as much as the moto-media would have us believe, since the act of going fast around a dirt track with jumps and stuff is still dependent on the rider more than the bike and we actually had great bikes 3 decades ago that still can work well. It's really amazing how far 4 stroke technology has come in 30 years. In 89 a 500cc 4stroke wouldn't be anywhere close to a 500cc 2stroke and to see a 450cc 4stroke competing with the baddest 2 stroke dirtbike that's up 50cc is really impressive.
